The WORC online course

So although this course was very long I found it very interesting and useful. But I think as a few of us have found there are some things that could be worked out and simplified to better fit with the course taker.

Some things I realized:

1. Some of the ‘end of chapter quiz’s’ told me I was wrong on many questions when I was actually right, they were telling me I was wrong and showing me the correct answers but the answers I had checked were the same answers they were giving me that were the correct answers. This is also happening in the final test. So currently I have not passed it after taking it at least 5 times, yet I know i’m giving the right answers.

2. You don’t know when a slide has finished

3. Many things were repeated at least 4 times if not more throughout the course. There must be a way of simplifying this so it’s not so overwhelming?

I have kept my comments short so we can all build a conversation on this with the comments.

Thanks for starting this Rhiannon. I wanted to add to your points.

    4. Whilst there has been a great deal of effort to make the content as interactive and stimulating as possible in its delivery, I don’t thinks there’s been as much consideration in the quiz/test portions. I feel the various forms of information (from the objective to the subjective) should have tests designed accordingly so that the understanding and memorizing of the content can be approached in more diverse ways. The test portion is not just about answering back to see if you have understood the information clearly as it’s also another learning environment. So repeating the whole test when you answer something incorrectly is in itself a learning device (by repetition). So, the question already being asked in the design and delivery of the interactive course may be: What is the best way for people to understand this particular subject matter? But another question might be: What are the various ways that someone can be challenged about this subject matter?
